Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

Manuscript Submissions

The Pittsburgh Tax Review invites submissions of unsolicited manuscripts from faculty, judges, and practitioners. Work written by students from outside the University of Pittsburgh School of Law is not accepted for submission, including work written while a student but submitted to the journal after graduation and admission to practice law. The Pittsburgh Tax Review requests that manuscripts be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 200 words describing the contents of the article.

The submissions will be reviewed and decided upon by the Faculty Editors. All citations should conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (20th ed. 2015).

Submissions should be sent to: Editor-in-Chief, Pittsburgh Tax Review, University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Barco Law Building, 3900 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 15260. Electronic submissions are accepted and can be sent to taxrev@pitt.edu. Electronic submissions are also accepted through ExpressO™ online submission delivery service. Manuscripts cannot be returned.
